According to an arrest report filed by the Utah Highway Patrol, officers recently arrested an Illinois woman for reckless driving and failing to respond to an officer’s request to stop.
Highway Patrol initially clocked the woman driving at about 120 miles per hour, at which point officials attempted to pull the suspect vehicle over - according to the initial report, the suspect appeared to be pulling to the right, before returning to the left lane and accelerating. The subsequent high-speed pursuit spanned multiple counties and clocked speeds up to 120 mph.
Jeff Richards with the St. George News reports a follow-up investigation by Utah State Bureau of Investigation, writing, “Two agents from the Utah State Bureau of Investigation arrived on scene and, after successfully applying for a search warrant, allegedly found an unspecified quantity of marijuana in the vehicle, along with drug paraphernalia.”
According to the arrest report, the suspect is currently being held in Beaver County Jail awaiting trial. The chase occurred across Iron, Beaver and Millard counties, and concluded near mile marker 165 according to the arrest report and the coverage by the St. George News.
