Local law enforcement agencies responded to the Kanab Travelodge on Sunday, February 16, after a bomb threat had been made against the hotel via phone. According to Kanab City Police Chief Tom Cram, the threat was reported to Utah’s Statewide Information and Analysis Center (SIAC) which specializes in countering targeted violence and remote and cyber-attacks. In conjunction with SIAC, law enforcement determined the threat was one part of a chain of hoax bomb threats targeting hotels in Utah.
States Chief Cram, “We did evacuations in the area to be safe, and checked the building - there was nothing to the threats.” SIAC traced the phone call back to an out-of-state number and connected the call with other hoax bomb threats.
