On Saturday, August 5, a little before 6 p.m., a GMC Sierra collided with a Subaru Forester, resulting in severe damage to both vehicles and a brief delay in traffic. The driver of the Forester sustained minor injuries - though emergency medical services responded, the driver was not transported to the hospital, receiving only on-site care.
The drivers of the respective vehicles were the only people directly involved with the crash, though the police reports cite two more individuals as witnesses to the scene. The estimated combined cost of damage to the two vehicles did meet the threshold making it necessary to be included in law enforcement’s report.
According to the Public Information Officer for the Utah Highway Patrol, who were the primary responders to the incident, the driver of the Sierra was driving under the influence at the time, and this played a role in the collision.
The collision took place around mile marker 66, north of Kanab.
