The Orderville Town Board met at the town offices on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Board members Marianne Leigh, Shaun Sharkey, Rory Hatch and Susan Esplin were in attendance. Mayor Lyle Goulding called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. Minutes from the previous meeting and bills presented for payment were unanimously approved.
The first two items on the agenda were the appointments of Breanna Crofts as Orderville Town Clerk and Chelcie Cox as Orderville Town Treasurer. Both were unanimously approved by the board.
Next, Hinton Burdick & Advisors presented on their review financial audit of the town ending June 30, 2024. It was reported that there were no material weaknesses in the town’s financial position. Revenue has increased as projected, and expenses have decreased. Financial and state compliance were designated as a “clean report.” HB&A noted that outgoing town clerk Carol Lamb had done extraordinary work in managing and documenting the town’s compliance.
A discussion around the fate of the town swimming pool was next on the agenda. With the significant and expensive repairs needed to get the pool operational, the board agreed that it cannot be opened in 2025. Additionally, the board agreed to discuss going forward the eventual funding and creation of an similar or equivalent facility for the town’s use, acknowledging that there may be one or more years before something new is put in place.
The board next approved participation in the Cooperative Wildfire System for 2025.
The next five items were applications for conditional use permits, with the board voting as follows: for Robert Bennett at 130 S 100 E, unanimous approval; for Tyler Shoaf at 550 S Central, unanimous approval; for Sean and Dusti Frost at 2355 South State, unanimous approval; for Alex Pavlides at 85 Frost Lane, four votes of aye and one nay; and for Wes and Kimberly Lamb at 150 W 2500 S, unanimous approval.
Business licenses for Try Living, Creekside Fields, 89 Built, and K&E Services were unanimously approved.
A motion to adjourn at 8:12 p.m. was unanimously approved by the board.
