On March 24, 2022, at 4:44 p.m., Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies from the Fredonia Substation responded to the Stateline Campground off Houserock Valley Road in northern Arizona for a report of a female trapped underneath a vehicle.
Kane County Sheriff’s Office (Utah) also responded and arrived first on scene. Upon arrival, Kane County Deputies determined the female was deceased and that the incident was in Arizona. Coconino County Deputies later arrived on scene.
Through the Deputy’s investigation it was learned neighboring campers of the victim heard a noise come from the victim’s campsite. When they went over to investigate, they found her trapped under a vehicle. She was unresponsive and they phoned 911 for help. At this point in the investigation indications are that this may have been accidental in nature. Information at this time is that the victim was the only person in the campsite when this incident occurred.
This investigation is ongoing by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office. No additional information is available at this time. No victim information is being released due to pending next of kin notification.
