Fredonia Elementary School’s long-awaited Winter Showcase

After being delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, the Fredonia Elementary School Winter Showcase finally took place on January 12, 2023. Under the direction of music teachers Corrine Jones and Taylor Cole, kindergarten through sixth grade took turns exhibiting their talents and hard work. The performances started off with kindergarten answering questions about Santa Claus and the North Pole, then right into a sweet rendition of Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer. Second grade, with help from the audience sang Up on the Housetop and Deck the Halls. On their own they shook bells to none other than Jingle Bells. Aiden Begay (second grade), the youngest solo act, took to the stage and played We Wish You a Merry Christmas on his guitar, and third grade played the sticks to Little Drummer Boy. The students have been working hard in their music classes learning how to read and make music.

The fourth grade showcased their hard work by playing Merry Christmas and Happy New Year on the recorder. We have a large number of talented students at FES and Emylee RIddle, Kamryn Judd, Tyren Begay and Temri Hansen, all of sixth grade, showed off their dancing skills with a Christmas dance number which left the audience smiling. Following them was Zoey Palmer (fifth grade) who played two songs on the piano, Silent Night and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies. Bristol Palmer (first grade) followed her sister on the piano playing Away in a manger and Jingle Bells. Our final piano solo was Emylee Riddle (sixth grade). She played Jingle Bells and Angels We Have Heard on High.

As the performances were winding down, the fifth and sixth graders took to the stage to entertain the audience. They told jokes and brought the house down with an enthusiastic song and dance to Chuck Berry’s rockin’ smash hit Run Run Rudolf. Our last student performance of the night was Temri Hansen (sixth grade) who played Tell Me Santa on the piano.

To end the night, both music teachers, Corrine Jones played Up on the Housetop Original Melody and Taylor Cole, sang Silent Night in German and Spanish, (he also teaches Spanish). The night was a huge success and showed off all the hard work and dedication of the students. If you missed it this year, hopefully you can make it to next year’s performance. You don’t want to miss it!
