Fredonia football kicks off

The Fredonia Lynx started their season this year with a game against Desert Heights Academy. The boys have a lot of effort and it shows in their stats! Senior Treyston Jones had 86 yards rushing and scored the only touchdown of the game. Senior Brayden Ford racked up 134 rushing yards.

Junior Paul Woods received for 52 yards in the first two offensive possessions before being taken out the remainder of the game with a dislocated elbow.

Jones, Ford, Kolton Wilmarth and Nemo Tapoof led the defense and tackles for the game. Offense was led by the leadership of Isaac Sample, Jones, Woods, Ford and Tyler Cutchen.

Although the game ended in a loss of 59-6, the game was valuable, and the team will become better from it.

Coach Brandon Tait gave his thoughts as they begin their season, “We have a great bunch of boys this year with talent. We have many freshmen who have big roles to fill in offense and defense. Our more seasoned players are filling positions that are new to them. This first game was a good learning experience as they come together as a team. We have an awesome group of coaches this year and we are looking forward to a strong season.”

The coaches and boys would like to give a big shout out to the Kaibab Paiute Tribe of Indians, who donated helmets and gear to the team this year. They appreciate your donation to keep them outfitted with gear that keeps them safe.
