Fredonia High School Softball defeats Panguitch in close game

The Lady Lynx went toe-to-toe with Panguitch last Friday and barely clinched the win in the fifth inning!

The game was tied at six, with Fredonia batting in the bottom of the fifth when Naveya Estrada hit a double that allowed two scoring runs. Braxton Henderson pitched for seven innings, allowing nine runs on 14 hits and striking out five. Henderson also had a home run in the fifth inning – one of the runs that catapulted the Lynx into a game changing inning.

The Lady Lynx scored seven runs in the fifth inning, pulling them into the lead of 10-6. Fredonia was able to hold Panguitch to only three more runs and pulled out the win 11-9. The Lynx batted well and had many hits throughout the game. McKenna Grover, Cashlynn Lathim, Charlie Anderson, Mikelle Waters, Braxton Henderson and Charlotte Allen each had singles. There were a few doubles by Charlie Anderson, McKenna Grover and Naveya Estrada. There were plenty of triples to help clench the game, hit by Braxton Henderson, Charlie Anderson, McKenna Grover, Naveya Estrada, Railey Lofing and Charlotte Allen. As well as their great batting, they also stole many bases. Cashlynn Lathim led the way with two stolen bases.



The Lady Lynx will play Ash Fork on their own field Friday, April 14, for the last home game. Then they will travel to St. Michaels on April 15, to battle against the Cardinals. Good job and good luck Lady Lynx!
