Fredonia Town Library hosts “Noon” Year’s Eve celebration

New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate the past year and ring in the new. All the fun usually starts late and goes through the night into the morning. In order to allow those who are not night owls to join in the hoopla, Fredonia Library planned a “Noon” year’s eve party so community members could ring in the New Year at 12 o’clock noon instead of 12 o’clock midnight.

“My family doesn’t like to stay up late but I hate to miss the chance of celebrating any holiday or tradition,” said Library Director Sheena Cram. Several teenagers, many families with young kids and even a few Senior citizens came throughout the morning and early afternoon to join the party.

The library provided a Hot Cocoa bar with peppermint, dark chocolate and marshmallows to add in and customize your drink. There were carnival type games, card games and Pin the Hand on the Clock. Similar to Pin the Tail on the Donkey, Pin the Hand on the Clock involved being blind folded and trying to stick a clock hand in the 12 o’clock position centered on the clock to win a prize. The winners included Jared, Wes, Corbin, Celia, Leah, and Elsie Johnson; Hazel and Eliza Webster; Quinn and Ari Till; Wade and Kolten Kinne; Brexlyn and Johna Loya. Each won a free book. The celebration ended with a countdown to noon and a balloon drop with lots of noise and excitement.
