The Glendale Town Board met in the board chambers at the Glendale Town Hall on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Mayor Dan Spencer, newly appointed board member Wells Brinkerhoff – replacing the departed Chris Williams – was in attendance, as were board members Kristy Brinkerhoff and Paul Cox. Mayor Spencer called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
After unanimously approving minutes from the previous meeting and monthly expenses, the board addressed the regular agenda.
The board heard from the Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce about a lunch and networking event to be held at the North Event Center at 11:30 a.m. on October 17, 2024. The guest speaker will be Janette Peatross from the Kane County Office of Tourism. The lunch will be catered by Zion Ponderosa. The event is open to the public and free for chamber members. Nonmembers pay $10 for lunch.
Next, Alan Seilhammer of the Wreaths Across America program spoke to the board about the organization’s mission: Remember the fallen. Honor those who serve. Teach the next generation the value of freedom. A nonprofit organization powered by volunteers, local Wreaths Across America chapters placed wreaths on veterans’ graves in more than 3,700 communities last year. The board voted unanimously to participate on behalf of Glendale veterans going forward. Learn more about Wreaths Across America at wreathsacrossamerica.org.
The town opened one sealed bid for the Berryville Hills crossing repair work discussed at the June 26 meeting. JK Construction was unanimously chosen to take on the project at a cost of $7,600.
The board then discussed ongoing plans for the upcoming Glendale Harvest Festival (renamed from the Glendale Apple Festival) to be held on October 11-12 at the town park.
Finally, Mayor Spencer noted that the town will be posting a part-time maintenance position next week.
