The Kanab High School Volleyball team traveled to Page, Ariz., on Tuesday, September 6. The gyms air conditioning wasn’t working, so it made for very hot temperatures to play in for the night. All three Kanab teams were able to get wins again. Freshman team won in two, JV in two and Varsity got them in four. As a team, we had 14 Aces, 80 digs, 60 successful serve receives and 10 blocks.
Some leaders were Madi Orton, with 11 kills, Emilie Gilberg had nine and Kennedy Clark brought eight. Clark also led in block/ block assists with eight total, for a new personal best. Team digs were a combined 80 for the night. London Fenus led with 24. Anna Cutler put up 22 assists and had five kills of her own. Final scores ended at 25-14, 31-33, 25-21 and 25-15.
The San Juan Broncos came to Kanab on
Thursday, September 8. Haylie McQuivey and Gilberg had a good night on serve receive. Fenus led with 26 digs, Gilberg nine and McQuivey five. Cutler pushed 17 serves with two Aces. Orton brought 15 kills, Livi Bundy had seven and Savannah Bateman had three. Hadley Barnson had three big blocks. Kanab got the win over San Juan as their first Region game. It wasn’t really pretty - scores ended up being close, but we still got the win. So, we’ll take it. We just had too many of our own errors we needed to clean up and eliminate. Final scores were: 22-25, 25- 23, 29-27 and 25-21.
The girls played against Parowan in an away game on Tuesday night and play against Beaver on their Kanab home court on Thursday night.
