Kanab’s Old Folks Day: a celebration for the ages!

The City of Kanab and the Kanab Museum brought back the historic Old Folks Day on October 1, and it was a day to remember! The event began with a special movie screening at the Crescent Moon Theater, where Glenda Winget took the spotlight as the oldest person in attendance.

  • The top pickleball players were Kris Graziano, Sharon Brady, Michele Hall, Mike Amacher and Tim Clarkson.

Meanwhile, the award for the longest married couple went to Alan and Jana Beebe, whose decades of love and laughter gave everyone a beautiful glimpse into what lasting love looks like.

The pickleball tournament was an absolute smash (pun intended)! The top winners of the day were Kris Graziano, Sharon Brady, Michele Hall, Mike Amacher and Tim Clarkson. They battled it out on the court, earning their victories with skill. Bragging rights and some fun prizes were theirs to take home!

As the sun shone brightly on those who gathered for the Garden Party lunch at the Heritage House, enjoying good food and even better company. The showstopper of the evening was The Price is Alright game night. The crowd cheered as Vivica Alldridge stole the show, winning big and lighting up the room with her fun and youthful energy!

Other events kept the momentum going throughout the day. From the relaxing vibes of seated Tai Chi to the cozy moments of reading with a grandparent, not to mention the always- competitive Bingo, there was something for everyone. Each activity was a hit, showing how much Kanab loves and appreciates its senior community.

The day wound down with the Senior Star Party, a peaceful moment where attendees gazed at the stars, hopefully reflecting on a full day of laughter and celebration!

There is no doubt Kanab’s Old Folks Day was a success, and we hope to do it again next year! A special thank you to the participating businesses and organizations who gave out free prizes to seniors sporting their Old Folks Day ribbons. It’s events like these that remind us just how special our community is!
