The Democratic Party DOES NOT require voters to affiliate with the party to participate in its primary election.
The Republican and Libertarian Parties REQUIRE voters to affiliate with the party to participate in its primary election. By requesting a Republican or Libertarian ballot, you are affiliating with the party. This requirement is set by the party – not the County Clerk’s Office.
