Kane County Auxiliary Thrift Store exists to provide a fantastic shopping experience, with proceeds going to Kane County Hospital. Additionally, it is a community gathering place for not only our stellar shoppers, but also the various volunteers providing a minimum of a three-hour shift once a week. Might we suggest a New Year’s resolution of volunteering at the Thrift Store? Just fill out an application with any manager.
The newly elected Board as of January 1: Christy Cordwell – President; Allison Bacialli - Vice President; Mary Jensen – Treasurer; Sara Ann Mortensen – Secretary; Fran Medrano, Carol Norwood, Claudia Presto – Members. They endorse an atmosphere of kindness and caring, while working towards making the Thrift Store be all it can be as a fun and fruitful shopping experience.
Because of all the super shoppers, darling donors and venerable volunteers this year, the Thrift Store is able to contribute a whopping $300,000 to Kane County Hospital.
Fun facts: We recently had a Coach Purse that sold for $25. Also a queen Company Store down comforter sold for $40. T-shirts are always $.50. Every Wednesday and Saturday, adult clothing is $1 and children’s clothing is $.50. Our Facebook page (run by our Board Secretary, Sara Mortensen) posts all sales daily. Our volunteers review and steam every piece of clothing that needs it (and most do), before we put the clothing out on the floor. In the New Year, do stop by for a bargain and smile.
