Highmark Stadium was not the only thing frozen over this past week; the deep home of Satan himself may have seen a few flurries as we have a new winner this week. While we are not giving him his own parade, (which I’m sure he would like) we would like to offer our congratulations to John Hiscock for his first win of the 2024 PigSkin season!
John was one of seven who were able to guess 13 out of 15 correctly. He only missed the Utah/UCF and Eagles/ Ravens matchups. Not too shabby considering we had some very close games in Week 13. It was John’s tiebreaker guess being only four points off that clinched the title for him, knocking off Tricia Spendlove and Alivia Swapp who both were only 11 points off, and will have to settle for tying for second this week. Others who picked 13 correctly this week were Pat Blankenship, April Hunt, Jordan Whilloughby (miracles really do happen!) and Jerry Hermansen.
Photo: John Hiscock stands squinting into the sun (per the photographer’s request, lighting and angles and all that jazz) beside Kane County Office of Tourism’s Jeanette Peatross, holding his generous prize: a one-year National Park Pass! John already has a senior pass to the parks, so now the pressure is on to see which one of his two sons he will gift it to. (Maybe wait to see what they got you for Christmas first, eh John?) Aneisha Beal is making a career out of the Ms. Irrelevant title. For the third straight week, she has clinched the lowest guess total. However, she did fair better than those who didn’t play, right? (We’ll blame the Thanksgiving holiday, Riddle family).
Kerry Glover might have fared as well as his wife Becca, who guessed 11 correctly this week, but he failed to fill in a guess for the Vikings vs. Cardinals game. (Too busy thinking about all the Thanksgiving pies were we Kerry?) But at least I could make out his entry form. Not even google translate could figure out what Neal Brown was trying to say on his.
The competition is nearing an end and it is still up for grabs. Alivia is holding a five-point lead for the title over Homer Blankenship, while Pat Blankenship and John Hiscock are trailing nine behind in a tie for third. David Williams, Kelly Brown, Andrea Gilberg, Neal Brown, April Hunt, Kerry Glover and Lane Sims are all within striking distance of that third place money finish.
Stay frosty players, we are wrapping up our final couple of weeks and every game counts. Be ready to go deep in the playbook, keep the bench ready and good luck to everyone in our final weeks!
Thanks sponsors! We’ll see you all in Week 14.
