As we near our final week of Predictions, it’s only fair to give credit where credit is due. This thing is not said and done yet folks. While Alivia Swapp holds the overall lead, it is only two points ahead of Homer Blankenship. (I’m not sure whether to razz Alivia that she could get beat by a man that is so old he could be Belichick’s father, or to razz Homer that he’s getting beat by a bubbly little girl.) While those two are not 100 percent safe from an upset, they are far enough ahead of the race for third that they would both have to not enter or fall completely on their faces to get bumped off. However, the race for third is shaping up to be a good one. We currently have three players just five points behind Mr. Blankenship: his wife Pat, John Hiscock and Kelly Brown. So really, next week’s guesses will be the determining factor in who finishes in the money.
Speaking of the younger Mr. Brown, he just so happens to be this week’s winner! In a week full of upsets, Kelly was able to manage an impressive 12 out of 15 correctly. It was his two guesses of Georgia over Texas and the Seahawks over the Cardinals that clinched him the title. Don Corry and Dennis Brunner were also able to predict the Georgia win, but they missed the Seahawks victory, while the opposite was true for Homer Blankenship and Jerry Hermansen, giving them all 11 out of 15 correct. Congratulations Kelly on your second weekly win this season!
While this week didn’t come down to the tiebreaker guess, it is worth mentioning the closest guesser was April Hunt who was only 23 points off. Our other award to give out this week goes to Allison Bacialli as she wins her first title as Ms. Irrelevant with the lowest score of six out of 15 correctly. However, Allison was one of only two who predicted the Rams to beat the Bills, so she does have that going for her.
Our last atta-boy to give out goes to Donnie Riddle, whose astute guessing (or dumb luck, however you want to swing that pendulum) was the only one who predicted the Jaguars to beat the Titans.
With one last week to go, a huge thank you goes to our sponsors, and thanks to all our players! Bone up on your Bowl Games ladies and gents, Week 15 is finally here, we will announce our overall winners in the New Year! Good luck, Merry Christmas and Happy Pigskins!
