Sand Dunes road washed out due to heavy rainfall

Due to heavy rainfall on Monday, July 25, a section of the Coral Pink Sand Dunes road was washed out and impassible for tourists and commuters. With a combined effort by the State Park, County Roads Department, and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office they were able to fix the road in record time.

A representative from the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park said, “Kane County Roads was on top of it and made it a top priority. They know it is not only important to the park to have that road open but also very important for the local community that uses it every day to get to St George area. There are a lot of people that work in Kanab/Orderville areas, even in Duck Creek, that live in Colorado City/Hildale area.

“They had the resources and materials ready and got the job done. We appreciate Bert [County Roads Department] and his crew for all they did, as well as the sheriff’s office for letting us and County Roads use the electronic signs.”
