Law enforcement officials statewide mourn the loss of Santaquin Police Sergeant Bill Hooser this week. Hooser was involved in the pursuit of a felony suspect along I-15; the suspect, driving a stolen semi-truck, turned the vehicle and steered it into Hooser’s vehicle, killing the sergeant instantly, before exiting the vehicle and fleeing on foot.
The suspect, after stealing another vehicle and undergoing another highspeed chase, was ultimately apprehended by law enforcement.
Hooser was honored with a procession and funeral by law enforcement and local citizens in Santaquin. A fundraising effort has been taken up on behalf of Hooser’s family on the Help a Hero Service under the name “Bill Hooser.”
