Search and Rescue called to gurney out hiker with injured leg near Port of Entry

On Wednesday, July 3, a call for help came into Kane County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch. The call concerned a female hiker who had slipped on some loose rock near the top of the dinosaur tracks north of Kanab, prompting Kane County Sheriff Search and Rescue along with Kane County EMS to respond and locate the injured hiker.

After assessment, it was evident that the hiker had fallen about three feet and had injured her leg. Search and Rescue and EMS packaged up the hiker in a litter to prevent additional injury and allow them to carry the hiker back to the trailhead, after which Kane County EMS transported her to the Kane County Hospital.

This is the second rescue conducted in this same area within the last few months due to hikers falling. Kane County Sheriff’s Office wants to thank their Search and Rescue Volunteers and Kane County EMS for the joint efforts in conducting these rescues.
