Firefighters were able to locate and contain the fire quickly, and worked well into the night ensuring the fire was extinguished completely.

Law enforcement officers made sure traffic was flowing and the scene was safe for firefighters.

We had 11 firefighters respond, as well as one paramedic on scene checking the vitals of firefighters as they exited the working environment.

On October 24, at 2:07 p.m., Kanab City Fire Department crews were dispatched to a vehicle fire on Highway 89. Engine 21, Engine 23, Engine 24 and Ambulance 21 responded to the scene, as well as local law enforcement officers.

Crews were able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby brush. Firefighting foam was deployed to mitigate the spilled fuel that was on fire, and HAZMAT operations were applied to protect the environment from the spilled fuel.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A big thank you to everyone who responded to both incidents, and, as always, we are proud to protect and serve the wonderful community of Kanab.
