Symphony of the Canyons
Artistic Director Kortney Stirland and the Symphony of the Canyons rehearse for their upcoming concert, April 8, at 7 p.m., in the Kanab High School Auditorium.

Celebrating their 39th season under founding Director Kortney Stirland, The Symphony of the Canyons is preparing for their annual Spring Concert, “Back to the Basics,” with a delightful array of music from the Masters. Bizet, Bach, Mozart, Stravinsky, and Schubert are a few of the composers whose music will be featured. You’ll also enjoy “Finlandia” by Jean Sebelius and Hummel’s “Concerto for Trumpet & Orchestra” with the talented Alex Moore as the trumpet soloist. Additional numbers will feature the harpsichord and clavier.

The concert is free and takes place on Friday, April 8, at 7 p.m., in the Kanab High School Auditorium. Please join us for a wonderful evening of great music performed by your friends and neighbors.

Future concerts this year will include sponsorship and participation in the semi-annual community musical the first week in August, Annual Summer Concert in late August, North Rim of the Grand Canyon Concert in September, and a repeat of our enormously popular Nutcracker Ballet in December. Watch the paper for soon to be published dates.

The symphony is a nonprofit organization and is supported by generous donations from area businesses, private donors, and the Kane County Office of Tourism. The all-volunteer orchestra is made up of talented musicians from the region, many of which have been with the organization for years. We are always looking for additional talented players. To apply to play with the symphony, go to www.symphonyofthecanyons.org to complete an application.
