March was National Nutrition Month and Teens Make Health Happen members learned that what we put into our bodies impacts just about every aspect of our physical and mental health. We know especially for teens, building intention to eat more nutritiously is a key indicator to drive future action. We focused on bringing insights to our students that connect to their lives - encouraging them to look at their lives and adopting a “good, better, best for me” approach when it comes to nutrition. Throughout March, members of TMHH learned about nutrition fundamentals so they can make informed decisions that support their nutrient needs within the context of their goals, values, cultures, and environment.
The TMHH Club members at Fredonia- Moccasin were able to do a communication campaign creating two bulletin boards in groups! Both groups got to present their boards to their class and did a great job showcasing their knowledge and learning about feedback!
As we moved on to April, our TMHH students explored how health disparities are impacting their community and how they can feel an increased sense of agency in creating positive change. As they’ve been learning about various health topics throughout the year, we are excited for them to start to pull everything together and reflect on the health of their community at large.
