The sponsoring Lions Club officers are; Josh Jennings, President; Candice Cox, vice-President; Kristy Brinkerhoff, Secretary; Marla Jennings, Treasurer. Board Members are John and Dusty Reese, Dan and Jill Cluff, along with Tyler Baird. “It’s a non-profit organization,” describes Marla. “All the money goes back into prizes or paying for stock, saddles, buckles, leather goods, prizes in the All-Around and each event.” She lists the various-age competitive categories as: “Dummy roping, Barrels, Poles, Calf-riding, Steer-riding, Bull-riding, Goat-tying, Sack-roping, Breakaway, Calf-roping and Team roping.”
Of the resulting impact on the participants, she says, “They’re getting better: good competition. They are definitely making some life-long friends.” Austin Baird, who along with Timekeeper Billy Staton minds the rough-stock action, agrees. “They’re really good! They’re having a good time learning some ‘technique’ on things that’s hard to learn, from good people that are willing to help them. They’re getting better and better. And, if they’re gonna continue to do it, you have to do that, and try to get better each time. And keep your head up, if you don’t!”
